What is CranioSacral therapy?
CranioSacral therapy (CST) is a light touch therapy shown to be effective in supporting the central nervous system. As the control center of the body, the central nervous system influences every other major body system and function. Problems here can cause a wide range of sensory, motor or neurological disabilities. Alyssa uses this non-invasive, manual therapy to detect and resolve patterns of tension and restriction in the body. Because it is so gentle and virtually risk-free, people of all ages can benefit from this therapy.
Alyssa has been a licensed Occupational Therapist since 1994. Her extensive background includes both orthopedic and neurological physical rehabilitation. She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Tulane University and a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University. She has received her CranioSacral Therapy training from the Upledger Institute and her most recent obstetric/pediatric training with Dr. Michael Shea, DO.
She has worked at numerous hospitals, including Beth Israel Medical Center, and has co-owned her own private practice, Integrative Rehab, in NYC prior to starting her private practice in Maplewood, NJ. Over the years she has recognized the benefits of combining holistic therapy and traditional medicine to help children and adults achieve optimal health.
